Reading about all kinds of pedometers I think that people are going somewhat too much into technical details. I know that there are much more sophisticated pedometer devices than omronhj112 but for 99% of people, a simple device that tracks steps and distance walked accurately is everything they need! This can be found in hj112 and that's all I need – no more no less! I bought hj-112 three months ago and I'm using it every day. I had some problems with attaching the clip to the meter. Don't know whether it's due to poor instructions or it had something to do with my short sightedness. It's also a bit pricey but I think it's worth the money since some other pedometers I used in the past had a short period of working properly. I'm enjoying experimenting with placing omron on different parts of my body and in different pockets to see if there will be any differences in results tracked.
